Her parents, Maggie Baird and Patrick O'Connell are both musicians. Growing up in a family of musicians, she and her brother, Finneas had worked together on music and has been encouraged by their parents to explore whatever they wanted, including acting, art and dancing.

Billie Eilish wrote her first song at the age of 11 for her mother. She also tried joining and participating on some acting auditions but disliked it. She grew up listing to the songs of The Beatles, Justin Bieber and Lana Del Rey.

Career

Eilish started her career when she uploaded a song on SoundCloud "Ocean Eyes" which was written and produced by her brother Finneas. Eilish talent has reached Finneas manager and decided to discuss her potential. Later on, Apple Music signed her to A&R company to help on shaping her image. In 2016, the "Ocean Eyes" was re-released, became certified platinum by the RIAA in 2018 and ranked 84 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May 2019.

On 2017, she released an extended play of "Ocean Eyes" with four remixes. Due to the success of it's remixes, she released the single Bellyache the next month which was produced by her brother Finneas. Billie then recorded a song called "Bored" for the popular Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. Subsequently, she released several singles including "Watch", "Copycat", "Idontwannbeyouanymore" and "My Boy". She then released her debut EP called "Don't Smile at Me" and named by Apple as their Up Next artist.

On 2018, Eilish collaborated with American singer Khalid for another soundtrack of 13 Reasons Why called "Lovely". The song was a certified platinum in the US. In early 2019, her EP "Don't Smile at Me" reached 1 billion streams on Spotify, making her the youngest artist to top 1 billion streams. Her third single "Bury a Friend" was released on the same year from her debut album "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?". Her single peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Eilish album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as well as on the UK Albums Chart, making her the first born artist to have a No. 1 album in the US and the youngest female artist to have a No. 1 album in UK. On January 2020, it was announced that Eilish will be a performer of the title track for the James Bond film franchise, No Time to Die. She became the youngest artist to perform a James Bond theme song.
