West Coast started writing and recording her own music in 2009. Melting Like an Ice Cream is one her earliest tracks featuring Tiffanie Anderson. She later signed a recording contract with Zone 4 in 2011 and Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment in 2012.
In 2013, she released her mixtape debut Now You Know, which featured guest appearances from Ty Dolla Sign, Snoop Dogg and a few others. It was followed by Waves in 2015. She was also featured in Young Money: Rise of an Empire, a compilation album released in 2014. It ranked #3 on the US Rap chart, #7 on the Billboard 200 chart, and #4 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
