Charles came home drunk and threatened them with the intention of killing them. Gerda faced no legal charges because it was proven that the action was to protect their lives.

Theron went to Putfontein School then the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. As a teenager, she moved to Italy with her mother and modeled around Europe for one year.
