Dwayne Johnson is an American-Canadian actor, a professional wrestler, producer, and a businessman. He is also a former American and Canadian football player. He is known for his ring name The Rock and starred in various biggest hit movies in Hollywood and in film industry.

Early Life

Dwayne Johnson is half-Black and half-Samoan. He was born May 2, 1972 in Hayward , California, US. He is the son of Rocky Johnson, a professional canadian wrestler, and his mother Ata Johnson. Johnson grew up living in New Zealand where he played rugby. In his high school life, he was arrested a multiple times for fighting, theft, and fraud. He also started playing sports in high school, namely football, track and field, and wrestling.

Johnson received several collegiate program offers for his football prospect. He took a full scholarship from University of Miami. He graduated in Bachelor of General Studies in criminology and physiology in 1995. Later on, Dwayne decided to pursue a career as a professional wrestler, and won the USWA World Tag Team Championship twice as Flex Kavana with Bart Sawyer in summer 1996 and signed a WWF contract.

Johnson made his debut in WWF as Rocky Mavia , which is a combination of his father and grandfather's ring names. His first match was at Survivor Series on November 17, 1996, an eight-man elimination tag match. He was the sole survivor and eliminated the two final members of the opposing team. On February 1997, he won the Intercontinental Championship on Monday Night Raw.

After losing the Intercontinental Championship to Owen Hart and suffered to a legitimate knee injury in a fight against Mankind. He then returned in August, lashing out at fans who had been booing him. In this time, he started to refer and be called as The Rock, started to insult the audience, some WWF performers, and interviewers. The Rock's popularity began to grow and audiences cheering for him. In 2011, The Rock's comeback to an episode of Raw gained an average of 4.7 million viewers in United States.

Johnson then entered the film industry , becoming popular with his wrestling career and work ethics. He made his shot as the Scorpion King in the film The Mummy Returns in 2001. Johnson also made an appearance in films such as Driver(2010) and Fast Furious 6(2013). He also made his debut in dramatic comedy series in 2015, playing the role of Spencer Strasmore on the film Baller. In 2016, he voiced the demigod Maui for the Disney animated hit movie Moana. He also starred on some films like The Fate of the Furious, the adaptation of Baywatch and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
