Mc Hammer is an American rapper, entertainer, and dancer. He is best-known known for his innovative presentations of pop rap and flamboyant dance techniques. He is one of the best rappers of all time and the first to achieve Diamond Status for a rap album.
Early Life
Stanley Kirk Burrell or Mc Hammer was born on March 30, 1962 in Oakland, California. He grew up from a poor family with eight siblings. At the age of 11, he worked as a batboy for the Oakland Athletics baseball team from 1973 to 1980. The team called him Hammer as he resembled Hank Aaron. He then acquired the nickname M.C. for being a Masters of Ceremonies.
Hammer graduated at McClymonds High School, where he played as a second base. He dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player, but did not pass the San Francisco Giants try out. Later, he joined and served the US Navy for three years.

In the mid-1980s, Hammer founded his record label business Burst It Productions. It then spawned to Burstin’ Records. He released his debut album Feel My Power in 1987. It was followed by the single Ring ‘Em. His tireless street marketing and continued radio mix-show play made his album and single known. His big break came when a record executive saw his performance in an Oakland Club.
Hammer signed a record deal with Capitol Records, which gave him a $1,750,000 signing bonus and a multi-album contract. The single also bagged the Best R&B Song and Best Rap Solo Performance awards. In 1991, it became the first rap song to be nominated for the Record of the Year in the Grammy Awards. In 2003, he is one of the judges for the television show Dance Fever and helped co-create the dance website DanceJam.com. In 2009, he produced the reality TV show Hammertime.

In 1996, Hammer filed for bankruptcy because of his $14 million worth of debt. Despite his millions of dollars earnings, it does not sustain his extravagant lifestyle.
