Sandra Bullock is an American actress and producer, known for her roles in many films like Demolition Man, Speed, Miss Congeniality, and Ocean's 8. She was named as People's Most Beautiful Woman in 2015, and was included in Time's 100 Most Influential People In The World in the year 2010. Bullock is also the founder and producer of the production company, Fortis Films.

Early Life

Sandra Annette Bullock was born on July 26, 1964 in a suburb of Arlington, Virginia. She is the daughter of the opera singer and voice teacher, Helga Mathilde Meyer, and to John Wilson Bullock, an Army employee and part-time voice coach. She has a younger sister, named Gesine Bullock-Prado, the president of Bullock's Production company.

Bullock studied ballet, and vocal arts as a child. She also sang in the opera's children's choir. In 2009, she applied for German citizenship at the same time maintaining her American citizenship. Bullock was a cheerleader and performs in school theatre productions at Washington-Lee High School, where she graduated in 1982. She attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and received her BFA in Drama in the year 1987.

Career

Bullock moved to New York City where she auditioned for roles in films. She attended acting classes with acting teacher Sanford Meisner. She landed a role in an Off-Broadway play "No Time Flat", after having several student films. Director Alan J. Levi offered her a part in the film Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman, after he got impressed by Bullock's performance. She landed on several roles in films like Working Girl, Love Potion No.9, The Thing Called Love, Demolition Man, and Fire on the Amazon.

She played the role Annie Porter in the smash-hit blockbuster, Speed, in 1994. The film received critical acclaim and grossed $350 million worldwide. Bullock also played as the leading lady of the 1995 romantic comedy, While You Were Sleeping. The film itself received positive reviews and made $182 million globally. She earned her first Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

From 1998 to 1999, she starred in films like Practical Magic and Forces of Nature. She also voiced the character "Miriam", in the DreamWorks Animation film, The Prince of Egypt.

In 2000, she took the role of an FBI agent who goes undercover as a beauty pageant contestant in the comedy film, Miss Congeniality. Bullock played the role as an astronaut stranded in space in the sci-fi thriller, Gravity. The film received an universal critical acclaim, a standing ovation in Venice, and grossed $716 million worldwide.

Personal Life

While filming "Love Potion 9", Bullock met actor Tate Donovan and later on got engaged. However, their relationship only lasted for three years and got ended. She also dated actors Ryan Gosling, Matthew McConaughey, and football player Troy Aikman.

Bullock married Jesse James, a motorcycle builder and host of the television series, Monster Garage, on July 16, 2005. James was involved in an issue on March 2010, in which several women claimed that they had affairs with him through his marriage to Bullock. On March 18 of that same year, James made a public apology to Bullock, and on April 28, reportedly, Bullock filed for a divorced on the 23rd. On June 28, 2010, their divorced was finalized with the reason "conflict of personalities".

Bullock and James planned to adopt a son. On April 28, 2010, while their divorce is still not finalized, Bullock announced that she proceeded with the plan to adopt a son. The child started living with them since January 2010, but chose to keep to keep the news private. She continued the adoption as a single parent after the couple's split. On December 2015, Bullock announced that she adopted a second child.
