Tommy Lee Net Worth

As of January 2020, Tommy Lee has an estimated $71 million net worth. He gained his fortune from his musician career as well as live performances and royalties of his two bands. His album Generation Swine earned $500,000.

Lee started his music career by being part of the band Suite 19 in the late 1970s and changed his nickname to T-bone. In 1981, Motley Crue was formed by him and bassist Nikki Sixx. They were joined by guitarist Mick Mars and singer Vince Neil. In the same year, they released their first album Too Fast for Love. It was followed by several hit singles including Shout at the Devil (1983), Theatre of Pain (1985), and Dr. Feelgood (1989). The band helped him rise to fame quickly.

Lee left Motley Crue and formed another band called Methods of Mayhem in 1999. Aside from being part of the two bands, he is also featured in albums of other artists including Stuart Hamm, Nine Inch Nails, and Rob Zombie. He also released his first solo album Never a Dull Moment in 2002. It was followed by his second album in 2005 called Tommyland: The Ride. The album served as a track of his autobiography Tommyland.

In 2004, Lee reunited with Crue and released Red, White, & Crue, a double-disc anthology album that went quadruple-platinum. They also launched The Red, White & Crue Tour 2005 Better Live Than Dead, a reunion tour to support their album.

Apart from being a musician, Lee starred in NBC’s Tommy Lee Goes to College in 2005. The reality show features his attendance at the University of Nebraska and the challenges he faced to fit in. Crue band members sued Lee’s manager, Carl Stubner, for forcing him to do the show. They were forced to cancel their lengthy leg tour in 2006. Sixx announced that he is no longer part of the band in November 2007 but was refuted by Neil. Lee still ended up recording the album Saints of Los Angeles and joined the band on its Crue Fest tour in 2008.

In 2008, Lee embarked on another reality TV show with rapper Ludacris. The series is a battle between Lee and Ludacris (and their respective teams) to see who can keep their act more green.
