Pablo Marí was born in Spain on 31 August 1993. His football career started when he joined RCD Mallorca as a child.

Marí made his debut appearance for RCD Mallorca’s third division at the age of 17. His debut for the first team came at the end of that year in a December 2011 draw against Granada CF.

The centre-back was signed to English Premier League side, Manchester City, in August 2016.

Despite being an City player, Marí failed to make a single appearance for his club. Instead, he was loaned out to 3 different teams over the following 3 years.

Marí's first loan was to Girona FC, just a day after joining Manchester City. Girona experienced what was arguably one of their best years in club history, thanks to Marí's efforts. They made their way into La Liga for the first time since the club’s founding.

The club went on an impressive streak of back-to-back victories, and they ended up finishing second in the Segunda División with Marí playing a total of 9 games for the club.

Marí returned to City and they loaned him out to Dutch side, NAC Breda, for the 2017/18 season. The centre-back’s successes in the Netherlands include 32 appearances, 3 goals, and being named team captain.

The Spaniard’s last season at Manchester City was spent on loan to Deportivo de La Coruña. He managed to score 2 goals across 32 appearances for the Spanish club.

Pablo Marí moved to Brazil to join Flamengo in July 2019. The 3-year deal was worth approximately £1 million. This move finally saw him shine, as the young Spaniard became a regular feature of the first team. The centre-back’s debut match for Flamengo was a 3-2 victory over Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas on 28 July 2019.

The Spaniard became the first Spanish player to win the Copa Libertadores a mere 5 months after joining the Brazilian side. He went on to make 30 appearances and score 3 goals for Flamengo.

Marí returned to Europe when his club loaned him out to Arsenal in January 2020 for the remainder of the 2019/20 season. The move was made permanent 6 months later. The 4-year deal was worth and estimated £17,500,000.

His debut match for the Premier League side was a 2-0 victory over Portsmouth in March 2020. Marí's first goal came towards the end of that year in a 4-1 defeat against Rapid Wien.

The Spaniard has made 19 appearances and scored 1 goal for The Gunners.

In keeping with the start of his footballing career, Marí has spent a significant amount of his time at Arsenal on loan to other clubs.

He was on loan to Udinese for the 2021/22 season, where he scored 2 goals across 15 appearances. The Spanish defender is currently at Monza for the 2022/23 season, where he has so far made 14 appearances and scored 1 goal.

Marí has not yet made an appearance for his home country on the international front. This is not surprising, as the competition to represent Spain is extremely fierce.

At 6 ft 4, the left-footed centre-back has an imposing figure. He has a strong ability to anticipate other players' movements and is quick to react, making him an important asset to the team.
